There are so many different types of this wonderful board game. According to Yahoo Answers, there are around 450! I have Disney and Transformers G1 Monopoly but not the original. In my opinion you can't go back to the original game after you've played one with your favorite characters anyway. I love that there are different rules for each specialty Monopoly. In the Transformers edition, each time you roll doubles you can "Transform and rolls out". Every doubles combo has a different option that adds a really fun aspect to the game. in the Disney version there are castles and cottages instead of houses and hotels. Which version is your favorite? If it's the original, which marker do you prefer to move around the board and why? Attachments:

Playing the original is pretty nostalgic for me (See below), however, the Mario version was pretty cool. As an afterthought, I haven't really liked any of the updated versions like Monopoly City, etc.

I forgot about all the new high tech versions. I am definitely not a fan of those. I tried to play the Monopoly card game and didn't like it at all.

I just used the last of the dice from it and a label maker to make a specialty die for another game that I'm working on. At least it was good for something!! ;D

Some novelty versions (like a Nintendo one my bro owns) are fun to play, but the one I liked was the one adjusted for inflation. More realistic that way.

While on the topic of inflation in Monopoly, putting money in the center (especially the dreaded $500 on Free Parking) totally shouldn't be a thing. It turns an already long game into an even hairier war of attrition where players are praying to Go To Jail just to avoid high-end hotels and attempt to get that lucky 10 then BOOM paydirt.
The whole concept devalues the normally powerful orange & red properties, which IMO are the most economic monopolies in the game.

Also, it's the horseman ALL DAY when I play the original Monopoly. All the other pieces besides the dog, I guess, seem too poltergeist-ish.
Guess who's got two thumbs and would never pay rent to a wheelbarrow? <<this guy

True to the Free Parking. I have found it to be very confusing when two players disagree on whether or not it applies after the game starts when neither asked beforehand if they were gojng to use the rule or not.

I think it's okay to put money from fees like taxes or what you pay sometimes for chance cards in the middle. It doesn't make sense to add $500 for no reason though. I like the free parking house rule as long as it doesn't get out of control.

Monopoly on Genesis is surprisingly fun, and it contains THE WORST IRISH ACCENT OF ALL TIME. When you get out of jail, the cop says "Don't you be coming back here now." It sounds bad enough considering it's human speech on a Genesis, but the performance is atrocious. Check it out if you can.

I saw the version not too long ago, man, what a steamer! Fun Fact: You had a few pre-gen characters on that version that you could choose from, ('cause you know, the game-play would have suffered if you didn't have your pixilated avatar) anyway, one of the characters was named "Penelope", I was like 10 had never seen that name written before, and pronounced it "Pen-uh-lohp" What a stupid name!
