We covered a lot of ground in a relatively short amount of time. There was some healthy debate, and the fact that we each had different ranks for the mediums exemplified the myriad ways that RPGs can be enjoyed. That being said, I believe that the tropes mentioned in the podcast are so broad that we only scratched the surfaced in terms of analysis.
Perhaps each individual trope will be given a full episode soon... ;D

I agree about not feeling that sense of danger in really any of the editions of Dungeons and Dragons. I had played in a few campaigns with Dan and died more times than I had bargained for, and I had no idea I was going to die how many times I had. Danger likes to creep up on you like when that giant gets that critical hit on your character or when you are flabbergasted because your character was just crushed by a giant ass stone that fell off the cliff.
