Okay, so myself and my friend Shawn were bold enough recently to watch the entire run of the Ninja Turtles films in order on blu-ray. The first film provided us an evening full of blissful nostalgia. It was great. It surprisingly stands the test of time. The second film was slightly silly, but that's to be expected. It was still quite fun despite the glaring absence of Casey Jones. However, the third was so painfully bad it was hard to fathom. Even bringing Casey back wasn't enough to avert disaster. Seriously, how did they manage to make the turtles look less realistic with a bigger budget and more time? I remember my sister taking me to go see it on the big screen. I am now very sorry for wasting her time and money. On a related subject, apparently they're rebooting the TMNT with a new cartoon and new films. And in these films apparently they will be aliens instead of mutants. Weird, just weird. Are the days where we could suspend disbelief gone? No longer can it be perceived that glowing green ooze could mutate turtles and rats? What has happened to the world?

No longer can it be perceived that glowing green ooze could mutate turtles and rats? What has happened to the world? I'm a huge TMNT fan from back in the day. I remember thinking how crappy the third movie was even back then. I recently heard that there is a comic book reboot using reincarnation. In that universe, Leo, Raph, Don, and Mikey are Splinter's kids and they were all murdered by Shredder in feudal Japan. Having vowed revenge, Splinter and the guys (and I assume Shredder) are brought back and the story begins anew. That sounds like a good concept to me. A much better concept for a reboot. Aliens...not so much. That being said, I'm happy that they are trying to revive the franchise. Although, I think they're doing it wrong. It's been proven time and again, that the geek community is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to new media and reboots of iconic stories. Case in point - Batman - Spiderman - The Avengers - etc. I'm pretty sure the new movie franchise is designed to target our children. But, if they do it right, we'll be throwing our money at the franchise as well. (And we have more of it) I'm just saying, if I walk into the comic shop and see Mr.McGillicuddy fighting with little Johnny over the new Bebop and Rocksteady action figures.......I'm in.

A couple months ago Bryan told me about the alien TMNT in the works and it ruined my day. I was happy to find this article though and I hope so bad that it says cancelled. www.cthutube.com/2012/06/michael-bays-teenage-mutant-ninja.htmlI LOVE TMNT and have since I first saw the amazing cartoons as a kid Michelangelo is my favorite! Over the years I've scoured Craigslist, eBay, and yardsales for the action figures and have amassed quite a collection. At Heroic Adventures right now they have a remastered trade of several of the old episodes in comic book form. It's only $20 and is definitely on my holiday wish list! When I bought the trilogy on DVD I had to get the third one. It's so bad, unbelievably bad, but I couldn't leave it out . I think the second one is great, The Secret of the Ooze will always remain on my top 5 movies list. I am a huge fan of James Rolf (The Angry Video Game Nerd) at Cinemassacre.com and really like what he has to say about the TMNT movies. (Warning! Explicit language) Check it out here: cinemassacre.com/2007/01/25/tmnt-part-1/ No matter what they do to the Turtles in the future, my fond memories of the original franchise will stay intact.

TMNT 2 is one of my favorite movies of all time. My name in Warcraft 3 and a lot of other games for awhile was "Ninja " in reference to when Donnie lassos the goofball burglars in the beginning. Love it

Ill news has reached my ears regarding this TMNT reboot. The disastermind behind this project is none other than Michael Bay. I'm sure you Transformers fans are delighted but I'm gagging at the thought. To me, the Transformers films were not great movies, not even good, simply little more than a collection of pretty pictures. Michael Bay is great at explosions and eye-catching CGI but what else? Most of the dialogue in his films has a tendency to make me wish I were deaf. Sure, I liked Armageddon when I was 10, but for the sake of Dragonball Buddha Christ, I was only 10. You're supposed to not know any better when you're 10. Now, I can imagine fans of the original Transformers animated series feathers are a little ruffled too. I'm sure it's awesome to see something you loved as a child turned into a movie. But seriously guys, not everything we loved as kids in the 80s and 90s needs to be turned into movies. Need I even mention the G.I. Joe movie? I guess you could call that my smoking gun. No one looked at that on paper and said, yep that's gonna work. Especially with Marlon Wayans as Ripcord. Which brings me to the D and D movie. Wow. What a turd that was. Enough said. So, to bring this rant to a close, I'd just like to say that perhaps some of our favorite toys, cartoons, games and childhood memories are best left as memories untainted by the spectrum of time. Tucked away neatly in the storage closet that is our minds.

I haven't been sadder to hear about a remake since the day I heard about the remake of Day The Earth Stood Still.
Sincerely, the previously mentioned Shawn

I must be the only person who actually enjoys the 3rd movie. In fact, I'm due to watch all of them again. The costumes, somehow, became progressively worse in the movies, but their attitude as a whole and as individuals stayed pretty true if I remember right. They all had some good (probably cheesy) humor & serious emotional moments (not tear-jerkers). I even liked the animated movie TMNT, especially how they portrayed Raphael (my favorite) & would've loved to see more like it.
The new comic storyline is really good so far & I could see a re-make movie going there far before TANT (aliens, seriously?). I recently purchased a Turtle Van box set of all the old animated series & am collecting the re-print comics so I can catch up on anything I missed as a kid. I'm excited to see & read them!
